Fire Suppression for Commercial Vent Hoods:

The main purpose of a commercial vent hood is to get rid of smoke, steam, grease and odor that develop in a commercial kitchen. One important thing to remember is that this also decreases the risk of fire. Most fires are caused by ventilation issues or grease fires that ignite due to improper removal of grease.

Having a properly installed fire suppression system along with the installations of the vent hood will minimize the dangers created by the build-up of grease and other pollution. The fire suppression system will engage automatically once a fire is detected and will work quickly to extinguish flames immediately.

The video below demonstrates how the fire suppression system is engaged once fire is detected.

The pressured gas usually contains carbon dioxide or potassium carbonate, or a combination of the two. These dry chemicals are ideal for suppressing a grease fire.
